How the Retrofitted Drawer Process Works

Asking about custom drawers can feel like a bigger step when you do not know what happens next.

The process is simpler when you understand the order: identify the cupboard, check whether it is suitable, choose the drawer or insert type, confirm the price, then install the custom-made solution.

1. Start with the cupboard that frustrates you most

You do not need to plan the whole house first. Start with the cupboard, pantry, laundry, bathroom, or storage space that causes the most daily irritation.

Good starting points include:

  • a pantry where food disappears at the back
  • an under-bench cupboard that is hard to reach into
  • a corner cupboard that wastes space
  • a laundry or bathroom cupboard that needs better access
  • a cupboard where a pull-out bin, spice rack, or pantry insert would make life easier

If you are unsure whether the cupboard is suitable, read can drawers be added to my existing cupboards?.

2. Check the likely option

Some cupboards need a drawer bank. Others may suit bins, wari-corners, spice racks, pull-out pantry units, or a mix of solutions.

The right option depends on what you store there and how you want the cupboard to behave. A pantry drawer solves a different problem from a pull-out bin. A corner unit solves a different problem from a simple under-bench drawer bank.

For special hardware, see pull-out bins, spice racks, wari-corners and pantry inserts.

3. Use pricing as an early guide

Before requesting a measure, you can use the pricing options page to estimate common drawer-bank costs.

Pricing is only a guide because the final quote depends on the cupboard and the hardware. A check measure confirms the practical details.

For a fuller explanation, read what affects the cost of retrofitted cupboard drawers?.

4. Request a check measure

A check measure confirms the internal dimensions and identifies anything that may affect the installation.

This may include:

  • cupboard width and depth
  • door and hinge position
  • shelf layout
  • plumbing or sink cutouts
  • whether the cupboard is single-door, double-door, pantry, laundry, bathroom, or corner storage
  • what drawer sizes or inserts will work
  • whether standard, deluxe, or premium hardware is appropriate

The check measure is the point where a rough idea becomes a practical plan.

5. Receive a formal quote

After the check measure, the formal quote can reflect the actual cupboard and selected hardware.

This is where items such as 65kg runner upgrades, sink cutouts, premium drawer options, bins, wari-corners, spice racks, and pull-out pantry hardware can be confirmed.

6. Custom manufacture and installation

The imported FAQ says the drawers are custom made in the Sydney factory and can usually be installed within two weeks after pricing review and check measure. Confirm timing when you request your quote.

The aim is to add practical storage inside the cabinetry you already have, with less disruption than a full cupboard or kitchen replacement.

7. Use the cupboard differntly

The end result should make the cupboard easier to use, not just nicer to look at.

You should be able to pull stored items toward you, see more of what is inside, reduce clutter, and use the full depth of the cupboard with less effort.
